A come and go event
Saturday, June 10, 2012
10 to 12 pm
Southwest Central, 4011 Bellfort
All ages welcome
So please come with a ready heart to bless the people of Star of Hope.
An encouraging word, especially if it is from the Lord, has the power to move mountains!!
This is mainly for the kids to become more involved in the community, but adults are encouraged to participate:)
We value babies, toddlers, and their families, and believe that it’s never too early to begin to teach about the love of God!
It is our hope that through play and song we can plant gospel seeds in these precious ones, as well as nurture their development and support their families.
SEEDS seeks to be:
a Safe place
for Every child 2 and under
where Enthusiasm for Christ and
early education is palpable.
We’re about the Development of the whole child
and Serving both little ones and their families.
We offer tending for God’s little ones on Sunday mornings at 9 am and during worship at 10:15 and on Wednesday nights at Cafe’ Grace.
KidsPray! Lunch will be on the first Sunday of the month from 12 to 1:30.
Our KidsPray! lunches have focused on the Lord’s Prayer through both quiet and active methods of prayer. Each month we are focusing on a key phrase of the Lord’s Prayer and seeking to grow in “wondering” about what it means. We ask “I wonder” questions to explore each part. After playing active games in the courtyard and enjoying a delicious and creative meal prepared by Phil and Barbara Rice, we focused on “Your Kingdom Come” during our prayer circle time.
This last month we moved from the fellowship hall to a very comfy room upstairs with soft blue couches. The children ALL liked this move very much. You can see the prayers of our children in this room. We began with a wall of gratitude as the children wrote or drew pictures of gifts from God and placed them on the wall to express our gratitude and praise. We also began the practice of “praying in color” as we prayed the Lords Prayer together and created artwork about the kingdom of God while we listened to prayerful music of the Lords prayer. We concluded as each child prayed for one other child in the room and the other prayer concerns that were shared. These prayers are so precious!
We all want to express great thanks to Laure Tucker, Bobbie Huebner, Beverly Thedford, and Phil and Barbara Rice for providing the meals for the children these last months! Thank you!!!
Our children engage in various activities on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.
During the 9am class time, the children up to age 2 head to “Seeds,” our cradle roll class. Each week, young parents will find “Seeds” a safe and welcoming place for their children. Fully capable teachers guide the young ones in age-appropriate play, song, and art. The name “Seeds” represents the planting of the Word of God deep within a person at an early age. The class meets in the nursery.
Preschoolers and elementary students enjoy their classes during the 9am hour as well. Adult leaders, though experiential and participatory activities, seek to connect to the children to God’s work in and love for the world.
During the 10:15am worship service on Sunday’s, children 3 years old through 3rd grade attend “Roots.” Just before the sermon, at least two adult leaders guide the children to the Roots room, where the children worship together.
On Wednesday nights, the preschoolers and elementary students meet together for song, prayer, and learning opportunities. The nursery is open on Wednesday nights, staffed by competent and capable adults.
We will be having a pool party on June 1st from 5:30 to 7:30 to Welcome Cassie our children’s ministry summer intern/apprentice. Cassie is in her senior year at ACU studying Urban Missions. We are delighted to have her with us!
ONLINE REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE!
Each week children will enjoy a Cafe’ Grace meal together served at 6:30. The kids will laugh at silly skits, sing praises to God, create cool crafts, play great games, learn amazing stories, watch hip music videos and prepare for our fishtastic closing program! VBS will kickoff with a Fish Fry and Party on June 6th. We’ll meet all summer long on Wednesday nights from 6:45 to 8:15 with a closing musical program “Fish Tales” on August 15th at 7 pm!
