What we are called to

We trust that our identity and our interactions with the world are deeply informed by God’s heart and the way of Jesus.

God

We trust that God is Creator and Sustainer of all things. We trust God does not “view us from a distance,” but is intimately involved in the world, working to liberate and reconcile all of creation through love and grace.

Jesus

We trust in Jesus as the ‘in-the-flesh’ revelation of God the Father. In his life and ministry, he uniquely unveils God’s true character: one of inexhaustible love, grace, and forgiveness. We look to Jesus to see the perfect union of wholeness and mercy.

Holy Spirit

We trust that God’s Holy Spirit is the presence of Christ within his community of believers today. Through his life, death and resurrection Jesus makes the promised Spirit a reality in the lives of all who are baptized into his name. We want to move as the Spirit moves, trusting that the Spirit provides the ongoing church with all that is needed.

Discipleship

We trust that Jesus calls each of us to a life of discipleship. By surrendering to the power of the Holy Spirit, we want God to transform our thoughts, speech, and actions – shaping our entire being into the image of His Son. From this inner and outer transformation, we are sent with a shared purpose: to teach and walk alongside others as they, too, become disciples of Christ.

Humanity

We trust that God’s image is seen uniquely and beautifully in all persons: in gender, race, age, socio-economic status, and background.

Community

We trust that God created us for connection. In the beginning, the only thing declared “not good” was for a person to be alone, and today we continue to hear that divine call to live in relationship. We are at our best – more whole and more holy – when we love one another well, following the life Jesus modeled and the commandment he gave us

Our Neighborhood

We trust that God has commissioned us to care for this neighborhood. We gather to find encouragement and a renewal of faith, only to be sent back out to live into that faith where it matters most: in our streets, our homes, and our workplaces. As a people sent by God, we go forth to care for one another, our neighbors, and the very earth we inhabit.

We serve because love a God who loved us first

Our beliefs are crucial to how and why we serve the community we live in. Learn more about the faith that empowers us to go into the world with assurance and purpose.
