Local and Global Service

Our love for God is best reflected in how we welcome one another and serve our neighbors.

Global Service

“As God has loved us, we will meet people on common ground and journey together to the higher ground of life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Glynn Langston – Insight International

Glynn Langston is a homegrown Houstonian who now ministers to visually impaired people around the world. Now based in Louisiana, much of his ministry is devoted to supplying those who would like to study with audio, large print, or Braille edition Bibles. You can visit his website for more information.

Reggy Hiller – Missionary to Eastern European Refugees

Southwest Central is the sponsoring congregation for Reggy Hiller’s missionary work. Reggy lives in Vienna, Austria, and ministers to the people of her city and the many Middle Eastern and African refugees that come to their community. She often feeds people both literally and figuratively, by providing hot meals to hungry people and free Bibles to those who would like to study.

Local Service

Reach 2 Teach

On Wednesday afternoons, Southwest Central is home to Reach 2 Teach, a tutoring/mentoring opportunity inside our building. We offer personal tutoring to children of the neighborhood who need assistance with reading, homework, projects, subjects, and the like. As time goes on, so does trust and fellowship, a framework for relationships with people we cherish.

The Point

We are a supporting congregation of The Point, a campus ministry at the University of Houston. You can support their efforts by providing financial donations or helping to prepare lunches and desserts.

Hospitality Apartments

Hospitality Apartments provide rent-free temporary housing for patients receiving medical treatment at the Texas Medical Center and surrounding areas in Houston and their caregivers.

Hosting Groups

We want to be good stewards of the space we’ve been given. Our building is used for various groups and gatherings, including the YMCA, a porcelain art club, railroad club, local elections, and more.

Bethesda House of Grace

Since October 2023, we’ve shared physical campus space with Bethesda House of Grace, a beloved congregation who worships in Spanish. Bethesda renovated our former fellowship hall into a space more conducive to their needs.
